Founded: in 1907

Arguably the finest views in UK golf await you at Nefyn and District GC which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2007. The New course is the longer of the 2 courses with only 3 par 3s and strategically placed bunkers waiting the errant tee or second shot. On a clear day the Wicklow Mountains in Ireland can be seen. The Old course follows the peninsula where you will enjoy some outstanding views and challenging holes.

Porthmadog Golf Course
3 Porthmadog Golf Course

Founded: in 1905

Designed by James Braid the Course is made up of two distinct halves. The front nine are away from the coast and although the soil and terrain are more accurately described as heathland, water makes an appearance on five of these holes. The back nine head for the sea, and some beautiful scenery. The course is transformed into pure links that has been likened to a miniature Troon.

Pwllheli Golf Course
4 Pwllheli Golf Course

Founded: in 1900

The first 9 holes were designed by Tom Morris of Hoylake in 1900 and ran along the sand dunes. The course was extended to 18 holes in 1909 when the course architect was 5 times British Open Champion James Braid. Pwllheli has often been described as a unique golf course with 9 holes being gentle parkland and 9 holes being a true test of links golf. One of the top 200 courses in the UK.

Abersoch Golf Course

Founded: in 1908

Abersoch is a hidden golfing gem nestling behind ancient sand dunes. This 18 hole course has a mixture of both links and parkland with many testing holes and wonderful views overlooking Cardigan Bay and the Snowdonia mountain range. Take for example the signature 246 yard par 3, 3rd hole with elevated tee and panoramic views requiring an accurate drive over both gorse and a water hazard to a sloping green with a bunkers waiting.

Caernarfon Golf Course

Founded: in 1900

Even the most focused golfer cant remain oblivious to the stunning surroundings and at Caernarfon they are particularly proud of the spectacular sights of the mountains, the Menai Strait and Anglesey that can be seen from everywhere on the courses. The course was redesigned in 1981 and recent clubhouse comments claim it has never played better, a friendly welcome and a nice unwind to any tour or short break.

Conwy Golf Course
7 Conwy Golf Course

Founded: in 1890

Conwy has given its name to a river, a mountain, a magnificent castle with a complete ring of medieval town walls and a championship links golf course that played a distinctive roll in two World Wars. After the War members brought it back to life and it has played a major role in championship golf ever since. In 2006 it was an Open Championship qualifying course for the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. Founded in 1890.

North Wales Course Golf
8 North Wales Course Golf

Founded: in 1894

North Wales course was once described by the great Henry Cotton as a gem. Situated on Llandudno's West Shore, this natural links course offers its biggest challenge to those golfers blessed with a hook for its front nine runs out alongside the railway line and the back nine returns along the coast. It saves two of its toughest tests for the end, the 16th and 17th holes. Nicknamed O Hell and Hello, they face in opposite directions and therefore serve up the wind in your face and at your back.

Maesdu Golf Course

Founded: in 1915

You can be sure of a warmer welcome at Llandudno's Maesdu course than that received by a group of Norwegians in the year 1098 AD. They came by sea and had on their minds that which couldnt be compared with golf. The bloody battle of Deganwy ensued and the ground upon which they fought was named Maesdu, black field.

Rhos on Sea Golf Course
10 Rhos on Sea Golf Course

Founded: in 1899

In 1911 ornamental lakes were created to store flood water before pumping it back to sea. In 1934 Simpson & Co, Golf Architects Ltd re-designed the course and relayed the greens. They compared some areas with St Andrews numbers 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17. which are now 10, 12, 14, 16, 2 and 4.

Founded: in 1977

Old Padeswood is a proprietary Golf Club, situated in the picturesque Alyn Valley of Flintshire, with one of the most difficult opening holes in North Wales. Some of the course was originally laid out in 1932 and in 1983 this was extended to make an 18-hole course, officially opening in 1985 by the Welsh former British Ryder Cup Captain, Brian Huggett M.B.E.

Whereas it does not have any trees it does has rocky outcrops and undulating fairways hemmed in by gorse.
